Oswego Chamber of Commerce 4th Annual Organized Bike Ride - Sunday, July 27, 2008
The bike enthusiasts of Kendall County have expressed many times what wonderful bike routes we have in our community. Travel along the Fox River, on country lanes still not congested with heavy traffic, through forest preserves and parks where you can see nature at its best, and past gently rolling hillsides featuring some of the best farmland in the country. Join us for a great day in a great location.
Registration starts at 6:00 a.m. For the road ride of 25, 50, 75 or 100 miles. For the Family Ride, we are offering a 3 and 7 mile ride that begins between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. We expect all riders to finish their course by 4:30 p.m. All starts and finishes for the routes are at Mill Race Cyclery located at 26 Main Street in Downtown Oswego. http://www.oswegochamber.org/pages/bikeride.asp
Chase the Moon - Sunday July 27th, 2008
Join other bicyclists, members and friends of The Conservation Foundation on Saturday, July 26th, 2008 for the 2008 Chase the Moon Midnight Bike Ride. Put your pedals to work for conservation as you travel at your own pace under a star-filled sky. Nocturnal riders will have the opportunity to travel the typically limited access roads at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, or Fermilab, and enjoy a healthy breakfast at the end of their nighttime journey. Chase the Moon is a ride, not a race, and the length of the route is determined by the will of your legs! Dedicated bicycle enthusiasts will be able to ride a 25-mile route, while more recreational riders can shorten the route if desired. The Chase the Moon Midnight Bike Ride is presented by and all proceeds benefit The Conservation Foundation. http://www.chasethemoon.com/
CowaLUNGa 2008 Bike Tour - August 2-4, 2008
Early every August, several hundred cyclists begin the three-day CowaLUNGa bike tour to help raise funds for the Respiratory Health Association of Metropolitan Chicago (RHAMC).
The tour begins at the Gurnee Mills Shopping Mall in Illinois and travels up into Wisconsin with overnight stops in William's Bay and Whitewater. Each day of the tour is about 60-70 miles of fun road cycling covering a total of 190 miles by the end of day three.
This event is not a race but a well supported leisurely ride on safe, scenic roads with limited traffic. There are plenty of rest stops along the way as well as a choice of indoor or outdoor accommodations each night. Fundraising dollars help the RHAMC in their continued fight against lung disease. CowaLUNGa Bike Tour has three different ride options – three days, two days, or just one. For more information about the event and Team CowaLUNGa or to register, visit www.cowalunga.com or contact Niki Bartosiak at (312) 628-0212 or niki@lungchicago.org.

Wright Ride features picturesque 10, 25, 50 and 62 mile routes PLUS the Childrens' Wonder Mile sponsored by Wonder Works Children's Museum. The Wright Ride is named for Frank Lloyd Wright, who spent the first 20 years of his 70 year career building numerous homes that still stand in the community, including his own. He lived and worked in the area between 1889 and 1909. His earliest work can be found here, including the Winslow House in neighboring River Forest. Oak Park boasts many examples of the very first Prairie Style houses, as well as Wright's world-renowned Unity Temple, which was built between 1905-1908. http://www.oakparkcycleclub.org/wrightride/
